This is the confluence of 12 different countries, 11 official idioms, students, professors, former student designers, coordinators, and of all of them with the real world industry, fashion, sheeting, tablecloth, lining, in expectation to make business, under the aspects that range from raw material to creative development.

Leading the initiative is Cora Francoise, a marketing professional with special interest for the textile universe, who coordinates the meetings and other actions since it’s begining.

Wisely, the meetings include schools from eastern Europe, stimulating they’re development and updating, and bringing they’re innovative capacity – which had been hidden because of an unnecessary detachment – to the group.

The association ROOMS FOR FREE is comprised of designers, enterprises, and research organizations, such as: Centre for Management Research (MR), German Institutes for Textile, and Fibre Research Denkendorf (DITF).

It seemed to me like it wouldn’t have been worth to be among so many different realities and similar stories, and not find out everything about each one of them. I determined that I would talk to all of the other schools trying to learn:

1. In how many ACADEMIES editions the school has participated.

2. Is it important to participate? How, why…

3. In your reality, what is the relationship between the school and the real market, real life?

4. Are there significant authorial works in your country?

5. Is there a possibility of sending us references of authorial iniciatives, with the country’s identity?

In the fair booths, the schools generaly presented two actions: graduation works of a selected student or collective works, results from a semester or the like.

I loved to have these conversations and start this discovery, which I know is very promising.

To start with, I talked to a student who had just finished the Design and Textile Art Graduation Course at Linz Product Design University, in Austria. Chen-Hao Lee showed his work representing the school. At the time I saw him, I understood that the story I’m about to start would go very far.

QUE HISTÓRIA É ESSA AFINAL DE CONTAS

Quem organiza tudo é uma associação de interessados no desenvolvimento da area têxtil  estabelecida na Alemanhã, chamada ROOMS FOR FREE, que se reúne desde 2004, com os mesmos objetivos: potencializar e promover o desenvolvimento da caapcidade de criação na area têxtil, através do encontro.

Encontro entre 12 diferentes países, 11 linguas oficiais, estudantes professors, designers egressos, coordenadores, e destes com o mundo real da indústria e da moda para tecidos de cama, mesa, forração, com expectative de negociar, sob os aspectos que vão da material prima ao desenvolvimento de criação.

A frente da iniciativa está Cora Francoise, profissional de marketing com especial interesse no universo têxtil, que coordena os encontros e outras acções desde o inicio.

Sabiamente o encontro inclui escolas do leste europeu favorecendo o desenvolvimento e atualização das mesmas e agregando ao grupo a capacidade inventive que estava escondida por um afastamento desnecessário.

Me pareceu que não  valeria de nada estar entre tantas realidades diferentes de histórias semelhantes e não descobrir o máximo sobre cada uma delas. Me propuz a conversar com todos eles procurando saber:

1. A quantas edições a escola participa do ACADEMIES
2. É importante participar? Como, porque…
3. Na sua realidade, qual a relação entre a escola e o mercado real, a vida real?
4. Há trabalhos autorais significativos no seu pais?
5. Possibildiade de envio de referências de iniciativas autorais, com identidade do pais

Nos estandes as escolas mostram em geral duas ações, trabalhos de graduação de um aluno eleito ou trabalhos coletivos resultados de um semestre ou algo assim.

Adorei conversar e iniciar esta descoberta que sei que muito reserva. 

Pra começo de conversa falei com um estudante que acabava de concluir o curso de Design e Arte Textil na Universidade de Desenho Industrial de Linz, na Áustria. Chen-Hao Lee mostrava seu trabalho representando a escola.  Entendi na hora que o vi a história que se inicia vai render.
